Heri Khoeri officially holds the title of Doctor of Civil Engineering Untar in the open session of the Civil Engineering Doctoral Study Program Untar, Wednesday (2/8) at the Auditorium Campus 1 Untar.
Heri received a very satisfying predicate after successfully defending his dissertation entitled “Estimation of Deflection of One-way Beams and Plates by Using Acceleration Sensor Data Recording”.
His research was motivated by the fact that deflection measurement from dynamic load test is prone to deviation due to unknown initial condition, sensor problem, and signal noise/disturbance.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian National Standard suggests that structural capacity be measured using static load tests, which require more energy, time, and cost than dynamic tests.
In engineering, deflection is the extent to which a part of a structure changes shape in the direction of the pressure generated from the load.
In his presentation, Promovendus said that his research aims to determine filtering and integration methods for improving deflection estimation from acceleration data.
Furthermore, Promovendus revealed that the method proposed in his research is the Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter method. The acceleration data filtered with FIR Equiripple High Pass can produce a dynamic deflection estimation (absolute maximum/minimum) of 95.5% ± 5.5% of the LVDT sensor data.
“By substituting the rotational spring constant in the static deflection equation, the estimated deflection value is 97.3% ± 3.93% of the static test deflection,” said the lecturer at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta and President Director of PT Hesa Laras Cemerlang (HLC).
On the occasion, the main promoter Prof. Dr. Ir. Sofia W. Alisjahbana, M.Sc., Ph.D. hoped that through her research Heri could make the best contribution in the world of practitioners and also as an academic.
The trial was chaired by the Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. as the internal examiner, with the board of examiners Prof. Ir. Roesdiman Sugiarso, M.Sc. Ph.D., Dr. Ir. Najid, M.T., Prof. Dr. Ir. Herman Parung, M.Sc., Prof. Ir. Sofia W. Alisjahbana, M.Sc., Ph.D. who is also the main promoter, and associate promoter Dr.-Ing. Jack Widjajakusuma.
Heri Khoeri is the 71st graduate of the Civil Engineering Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Engineering Untar. (DN/AW)
