Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), were officially inaugurated as doctors during the 151st Doctor Inauguration and 89th Graduation Ceremony of FK Untar, held at Untar Campus I in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/10/2026). The inauguration marked the beginning of the new doctors’ professional journey in providing healthcare services guided by professionalism, empathy, and humanity.

Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., reminded the graduates that the physician’s oath is not merely part of the inauguration ceremony, but a commitment that must be put into practice through meaningful service to the community.

Coinciding with the 98th anniversary of the Youth Pledge, the inauguration also served as a moment for the new doctors to carry the spirit of dedication into their professional practice and service to the public.

The Rector emphasized the importance of professionalism in meeting the community’s healthcare needs. Alongside their professional responsibilities, the doctors were also reminded to take care of their own health and maintain their connection with their alma mater.

“While dedicating yourselves to your patients, remember to take care of your own health and continue contributing to your alma mater,” he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board Vedrych J. Kusnanto, S.Kom., M.M., emphasized that the inauguration was not the end of the educational journey, but the beginning of their service as doctors. He stated that earning a medical degree also carries a moral responsibility that must be fulfilled with empathy and integrity.

“The medical degree you receive today is not merely an academic achievement, but also a moral responsibility to serve the community. Dedicate yourselves to the public with empathy and integrity, and continue learning as medical science develops,” he said.

The physician’s oath ceremony was led by Dean of FK Untar Dr. dr. Noer Saelan Tadjudin, Sp.KJ., and followed by the graduates according to their respective religions. Through the oath, the new doctors reaffirmed their commitment to practicing medicine responsibly, upholding professional ethics, and prioritizing humanity.

Representing the newly inaugurated doctors, dr. Ignasius Ivan Chandra S. reflected on the challenges and struggles they had faced throughout medical school. Hard work and perseverance had played an important role in their journey toward completing their education and becoming doctors.

“Hard work and perseverance have brought us to this point. Although we may take different paths in the future, we will always share the same alma mater. Let us continue to support one another, remind each other to do what is right, and carry out our responsibilities as doctors with pride,” he said.

The inauguration marked the beginning of the new doctors’ professional journey, as they put their medical knowledge into practice through service to the community. Competence, empathy, integrity, and adherence to professional ethics will serve as the foundation for fulfilling these responsibilities.

The event was attended by Chair of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) West Jakarta Branch dr. Astrid Fransisca Padang, Sp.OG., Subsp.KFM, representatives of FK Untar’s teaching hospital partners, the Tarumanagara Medical Alumni Association (KAMT), and the families of the newly inaugurated doctors.
