The Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), through its Padmanagara Extracurricular Activity Unit (UKE), presented the Nusantara Dance Performance to commemorate Youth Pledge Day on Wednesday (28/10/2026), at the lobby area of Building M, Untar Campus I.

Since 2023, the Nusantara Dance Performance has featured various music, dance, vocal, and drama performances by several FPsi Untar extracurricular units. These include the Indonesian Traditional Dance Unit, Padmanagara; the Vocal Group Unit, Psychovoice; the Modern Dance Unit, Psychodynamic; and the Acting or Theater Unit, Phoenicia.

In his remarks, Dean of FPsi Untar Dr. Putu Tommy Y.S. Suyasa, M.Si., Psikolog, reminded students to keep alive the spirit of the Youth Pledge, which marks its 98th anniversary this year.

“The spirit of the Youth Pledge must continue to live on in the younger generation,” he emphasized.

He also explained the meaning of Karsa Abhinaya. “Karsa” means spirit, intention, and determination, while “Abhinaya” means expression. These values reflect the opportunity for students to share their aspirations and creativity through art.

A Variety of Student Artistic Expressions

The performances opened with a piano recital, followed by a reading of the Youth Pledge accompanied by the song “Tanah Airku,” composed by Ibu Sud and performed by Psychovoice.

Indonesia’s cultural diversity was showcased through a medley dance combining traditional movements from various regions across the country. This was followed by the Non Ceci Layu Dance, which features elements of Betawi culture; the Muli Sambaian Dance from Lampung; the Kagenep Andau Bawi Itah Dance from Central Kalimantan; and the Asa Nirwana Dance from West Java.

In addition to traditional dances, the event also featured a drama performance by Phoenicia and a modern dance performance by Psychodynamic. These different art forms gave students more opportunities to express their creativity through various mediums.

To close the event, Padmanagara collaborated with Psychovoice in a dance performance accompanied by the songs “Aku Indonesia” and “Tabola Bale.” This collaboration marked the end of a series of performances showcasing the diverse artistic expressions of FPsi Untar students. (CS/YS)
