Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) underwent an international accreditation process through an on-site visit by assessors from the Accreditation, Certification, and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN) at Untar Campus I, Jakarta, on Thursday (29/10/2026). The assessment is part of Untar’s efforts to improve educational quality and expand its international recognition.
ACQUIN is an international accreditation agency focused on quality assurance in higher education across various academic disciplines. Its accreditation process aims to ensure that study programs meet internationally recognized education quality standards.
Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., expressed Untar’s readiness to receive feedback and constructive criticism from the assessment team as part of the institution’s development efforts to strengthen its ability to compete globally.
“We understand that national recognition alone is not enough. Global recognition is also an important first step in providing students with broader access, particularly in education,” he said.
The ACQUIN accreditation process covers several aspects, including curriculum, teaching quality, faculty competencies, learning facilities, learning outcomes, and the relevance of graduates’ competencies to the needs of industry and society.
In addition to conducting evaluations, ACQUIN provides recommendations for improvement to support the continuous enhancement of study program quality.
ACQUIN Consultant for International Accreditation and Project Manager Kristina Beckermann acknowledged that the accreditation process presents challenges for higher education institutions. However, it also creates opportunities for collaboration between educational institutions and accreditation agencies.
“Accreditation is a joint effort between higher education institutions and accreditation bodies and panels. Untar’s achievements, aspirations, and development as an institution play an important role in Indonesia’s higher education system,” she explained.
Through this international accreditation process, Untar aims to continuously improve the quality of its learning environment and student experience, while developing education that is relevant to the needs of society and the workplace. (CJ/YS)
