Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) hosted the 2026 National Student Church Choir Festival (PESPARAWI), held on October 22–23, 2026, at Graha Swara, Building M, Untar Campus I.

Organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), the event brought together students from various regions through a choral music competition.

Under the theme “United in Harmony, Creating with Love, Making an Impact,” PESPARAWI brought together 25 university contingents, totaling 1,150 participants, including students, coaches, officials, and accompanying staff. Participating universities had completed and passed the pre-national selection process.

The spirit of diversity was one of the key messages at the opening ceremony on Thursday (22/10/2026). Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., described a choir as a reflection of life, in which mutual respect is essential to creating harmony.

“Diversity is not a source of division; rather, it is a richness that creates beauty when brought together through mutual respect, just like harmony in a choir,” he said.

Through the competition, students were also encouraged to uphold sportsmanship and build friendships. According to the Rector, artistic activities provide opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, and teamwork beyond academics.

These values align with the perspective of Sukino, S.Pd., M.A.P., Head of the Student Affairs Working Team at the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa). He noted that student achievement is not determined solely by winning, but also by the learning process, discipline, courage to perform, openness to feedback, and sportsmanship.

For participants, PESPARAWI was not merely an opportunity to achieve recognition but also a chance to meet and learn alongside students from across Indonesia.

Algorius Oemanas, a student at Universitas Timor from Kefamenanu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), expressed his gratitude for being able to take part in the national competition.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the 2026 National Student PESPARAWI and hope to deliver our best performance and achieve results that make Universitas Timor proud,” he said.

The experience of students from Timor also formed part of the sense of togetherness shared by participants from various universities, including Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana, Universitas Kristen Indonesia Maluku, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Musamus Merauke, and Universitas Pattimura.
