Eid al-Fitr mornings always bring a unique atmosphere. After a night filled with the echoes of takbir, people flock to mosques and open fields to perform the Eid prayer. Once the prayer concludes, warm smiles and handshakes are exchanged, marking the beginning of the celebration after a month of observing Ramadan.

In many homes, the aroma of chicken opor, ketupat, and rendang begins to fill the air from the kitchen. These traditional Eid dishes seem to signal the arrival of the special day. Families gather around the dining table, sharing stories while enjoying meals prepared since early morning.
Eid is also closely associated with the tradition of silaturahmi, or strengthening social bonds. Many people use the holiday to visit parents, relatives, and neighbors. In such a warm atmosphere, asking for and granting forgiveness becomes an important part of reconnecting and strengthening relationships.

That warmth is also felt by Universitas Tarumanagara student Kania Syahida Salsabilla. For her, Eid al-Fitr always brings its own happiness because it becomes a moment to reunite with family.

“Every Eid al-Fitr always brings the things we look forward to most: togetherness, peace of mind, and the opportunity to strengthen relationships once again,” she said.

For many people, Eid al-Fitr is more than just an annual celebration. The holiday serves as a reminder of the importance of family, brotherhood, and forgiveness. Amid warm handshakes and shared plates of opor, Eid continues to bring a sense of togetherness that people long for every year. (VC/YS)
