Untar demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the competencies of professional personnel in Indonesia by hosting the 2025 Independent Librarian Professional Certification Program. The event was held on Monday (15/09/2025) at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus I Untar, through a collaboration between the Jakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Higher Education Librarians Forum (FPPTI) and the Untar Library, in partnership with the Librarian Professional Certification Institute (LSP Pustakawan) and the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chair of FPPTI Jakarta, Irma Irawati Ibrahim, S.S., M.Kom.; the Chair of the Librarian Professional Certification Institute, Dra. Titiek Kismiyati, M.Hum.; certification assessors; and numerous certification candidates from various institutions participating in the program.
In her remarks, the Vice Rector of Untar, Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog., emphasized the importance of professional certification as a benchmark for the quality of Indonesian librarians.

“With the rapid advancement of technology and changing times, we must work together to face these challenges. I hope this certification program will become a milestone for innovation in Indonesia’s library profession and serve as a reliable measure of professional competence,” she said.
Echoing this view, the Chair of FPPTI Jakarta, Irma Irawati Ibrahim, expressed her appreciation for Untar’s support as the host institution.

“We are grateful to Untar for facilitating this event. Librarian certification is not merely a formality; it is a tangible effort to maintain the quality of information services in higher education institutions,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Librarian Professional Certification Institute, Dra. Titiek Kismiyati, M.Hum., emphasized that the certification program represents a strategic step in addressing the challenges faced by librarians in the digital era.

“Today’s librarians are expected not only to master information management but also to adapt to technological developments. This certification ensures that librarians’ competencies remain aligned with contemporary needs,” she explained.
The opening ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative tokens and a group photo session, before proceeding to the competency assessments conducted directly by assessors through 16 September 2025.
Through its active involvement in this initiative, Untar reaffirmed its role as an educational institution that not only focuses on academic development but also contributes meaningfully to improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia, including in the field of librarianship.
