Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a global and national agreement that aims to improve the welfare of society.
Established at the UN General Assembly in September 2015, the SDGs include 17 global goals and targets for 2030 that are recognized by countries, both developed and developing.
This agreement marks a shared commitment to achieving positive change in various aspects of people’s lives globally.
SDG 1 – No Poverty
Aims to end poverty in all its forms worldwide by 2030. Focuses on eradicating extreme poverty and empowering those living in vulnerable conditions.
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
Targeting the elimination of hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition and supporting sustainable agriculture. This goal commits to ensuring all people have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food.
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being
Prioritizes the general health and well-being of people. This SDG includes efforts to reduce mortality, control the spread of infectious diseases, and improve access to affordable health services.
SDG 4 – Quality Education
Aims to ensure access to inclusive, equitable and quality education for all. Focus on improving the quality of education, empowering teachers, and providing lifelong educational opportunities.
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
Targets the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women. This goal includes eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and girls, and ensuring equal participation in all fields.
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
Aspire for universal access to clean water and safe sanitation. This goal focuses on sustainable water management, controlling water pollution, and reducing the number of people without access to proper sanitation facilities.
SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
Targeting universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy. This SDG also includes the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
Aims to create decent work, inclusive economic growth and social protection for all. This goal emphasizes the importance of creating productive employment opportunities and decent working conditions.
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
It targets the development of robust infrastructure, promotion of innovation, and sustainable industrial development. This SDG seeks to achieve inclusive economic growth through sustainable industrialization.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
Aspires to reduce inequalities within and between countries, and promote inclusiveness. Focus on empowering vulnerable groups and reducing inequalities in income.
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
Aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Focus on good urban planning, access to public transportation, and protection and restoration of cultural heritage.
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
Aspire to sustainable consumption and production patterns. This goal emphasizes the importance of resource efficiency, proper waste management, and development of environmentally friendly products.
SDG 13 – Climate Action
Targets global efforts to address climate change and its impacts. This goal includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to climate change, and increasing resilience to natural disasters.
SDG 14 – Life Below Water
Aims to conserve and sustainably use marine resources. Focus on protecting marine ecosystems, reducing plastic pollution, and tackling harmful fishing practices.
SDG 15 – Life on Land
Envision forest management, restoration of degraded land, and preservation of biodiversity. This SDG emphasizes the protection of terrestrial ecosystems and controlling the invasion of alien species.
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Aims to promote peace, justice and strong institutions. This goal includes reducing violence, equal access to the legal system, and fighting corruption.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Targeting increased international cooperation in achieving the SDGs. Focus on capacity building, technology transfer and financial support to ensure the sustainability of development efforts.
The overall goals of the SDGs reflect a global commitment to achieve comprehensive and equitable sustainable development around the world.
