Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) is strengthening its international academic collaboration with Yuan Ze University (YZU), Taiwan, through the development of a fast-track degree program. The initiative will provide students with the opportunity to complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees within five years while gaining valuable international study experience.

The collaboration was discussed during a meeting held at Untar Campus on Thursday (23/07/2026). The meeting was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Untar Dr. Ir. Wilson Kosasih, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., Head of Institutional Coordination and Academic Innovation Dr. Steven Darmawan, S.T., M.T., and representatives from Yuan Ze University, including Director of the Office of Global Affairs Dr. Yun-Chia Liang and Dr. Yang-Pin Shen, Associate Professor of the College of Management.

Under the proposed 3+1+1 scheme, students will spend the first three years of their undergraduate studies at Untar, followed by one year as exchange students at Yuan Ze University. Upon completing their bachelor’s degree, they will continue with an additional year of master’s study at YZU, allowing them to earn a master’s degree.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering stated that the program not only expands students’ opportunities to gain international academic experience but also enables them to build global networks and develop cross-cultural understanding.

“Students will not only gain experience studying in an international environment, but will also broaden their cultural perspectives, build global academic networks, and accelerate the completion of their academic qualifications,” he said.

In addition to reducing the combined duration of undergraduate and master’s studies from six years to five, the program is expected to provide greater time and cost efficiency for students. Participants will also have the opportunity to strengthen their English and Mandarin language skills while enhancing the global competencies increasingly required in today’s workforce.

The partnership forms part of Untar’s broader strategy to expand its international network and provide students with more opportunities for cross-border learning. Through collaborations with universities around the world, Untar continues to prepare graduates with global competitiveness while maintaining high academic standards. (CJ/YS)
