The 2026 Lunar New Year celebration at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) on Thursday (26/2/2026) was interpreted not merely as an annual cultural event, but as a momentum to reaffirm the university’s commitment to strengthening harmony and collaboration within the campus community through the theme “Flourish Beyond Fortune.”

Rector of Universitas Tarumanagara, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., stated that the meaning of “flourish” goes beyond material prosperity and also reflects holistic growth, including wisdom and character. “This new year is not only about receiving fortune, but also the wisdom to manage it, the humility to be grateful for it, and the courage to share it,” he said.

According to the Rector, these values align with Untar’s efforts to build an inclusive and dynamic academic environment. The university is expected to become a meeting space for people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds who are able to collaborate in a spirit of mutual respect.

Chair of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board, Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H., emphasized the importance of unity and innovation as collective strengths. He reminded the academic community that they are part of one large family that must continue supporting one another in facing future challenges. “Let this moment become a moment of unity and collaboration so that we can continue supporting one another,” he stated.

The celebration, held at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus I Untar, was attended by university and foundation leaders, leaders of Institut Tarumanagara, Tarumanagara Xinya College, hospital partners, as well as tenants who are part of the collaborative ecosystem. The presence of these various elements reflected the strong synergy that has long been developed within the Tarumanagara environment.

The event was further enlivened by performances from students across faculties and Xinya College, including cultural and artistic performances as well as a lion dance performance from Boen Tek Bio. For Untar, however, Lunar New Year also symbolized a commitment to continuously strengthen togetherness and the spirit of growing collectively as an inclusive and competitive university. (KS/YS)
