The Learning and Academic Innovation Institute (Lembel) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) held a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Workshop on Tuesday (09/12/2025) at Campus I Untar. The program reflects the institute’s commitment to strengthening adaptive and relevant learning implementation in response to the needs of students and developments in higher education.
The workshop was opened by the Head of the Learning and Academic Innovation Institute, Dr. Ir. Steven Darmawan, S.T., M.T. He emphasized the importance of RPL as an instrument that provides flexibility for prospective students, particularly those with work experience or transfer students. Recognition of learners’ prior competencies is considered a strategic step toward supporting a more efficient learning process.
“The RPL program provides space for prospective students to continue their studies based on their prior learning achievements. In this way, the education process can be more personalized while still meeting Untar’s academic standards,” said Dr. Steven.
The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog, also attended the event and delivered remarks. She stated that the implementation of RPL not only expands opportunities for students but also positively contributes to increasing student enrollment and institutional reputation.
Prof. Sri Tiatri added that transfer students and prospective students with certain skills and experience should receive proper recognition so that their potential can be maximized during their studies at Untar. In this way, graduates produced will continue to meet higher education quality standards.
Through these efforts, Lembel Untar also emphasized that the design and implementation of RPL must be carried out collaboratively, in a structured and sustainable manner, to ensure optimal benefits for both students and the institution. (VC/YS)
