The Interior Design (DI) Program of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) participated in the M-Bloc Design Week 2025 art exhibition as a collaborative partner alongside representatives of Interior Design programs from several universities across Indonesia.
The event was held over nine days, from October 31 to November 9, 2025, at PosBloc, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.
The exhibition aimed to introduce students’ creative works focusing on design, particularly in the exploration of sustainable design, while fostering awareness of environmental and social issues and encouraging public engagement to expand the contribution of design to everyday life.
Inspired by innovations symbolizing a journey toward a more conscious and sustainable future through design, DI Untar carried the theme “Tunnel of Re-Imagined Futures.”
Several exhibited works were created using recycled exhibition materials and woven textiles produced by a women’s community in Bantargebang. These works transformed waste into meaningful creations through creativity and empathy. The collaboration between Desain Interior Untar and Rambah Runtah reflected a vision of the future of design rooted in social awareness, sustainability, and cultural regeneration.
Throughout the event, various activities were held, including a talk show featuring DI Untar alumni and innovative designers under the theme “Re-Imagining Design Futures: Creativity, Community, and Sustainability.”
On Monday (3/11/2025), DI Untar organized a seminar featuring Eugenio Hendro, owner of Eugenio Hendro Studio; Iqra Firdausy, environmental activist and founder of Rambah Runtah; and Robert Wanasida, an Untar Interior Design alumnus and CEO of DaurBaur Micro Factory and Kopi Nako.
The event was also attended by Head of the DI Untar Program Dr. Maitri Widya Mutiara, S.Ds., M.M., and DI Untar lecturer Ferdinand Kendall, S.Ds., M.Ars.
“Activities like this help DI Untar students become more sensitive to their surrounding environment. It is hoped that students’ empathy can grow and encourage the creation of designs that positively impact society,” said Ferdinand Kendall.
One of the students whose work was exhibited, Arvin Antonio, also shared his thoughts. “DI Untar taught me to explore the world of design, especially in utilizing materials around us that can actually create a significant impact,” he stated.
During MBDW 2025, DI Untar also organized several workshops, including a Chunky Bag and Moru Dolls workshop with @kerirynn on Sunday (2/11/2025), as well as a batik-making workshop with Rumah Batik Palbatu on Sunday (9/11/2025).
