Every year on September 9, Indonesia commemorates National Sports Day (Haornas) to honor the birth of the nation’s sporting spirit. In 2025, the celebration marks its 42nd anniversary under the theme “Uniting Indonesia Through Sports” and the tagline “Sports Unite Us.”

The theme serves as a reminder that sports are not merely physical activities for maintaining fitness, but also a means of strengthening unity, fostering sportsmanship, and building a sense of togetherness. Sports have the power to bridge differences and bring together people of various ages, backgrounds, and cultures.

As a university that focuses not only on the academic journey and development of its students, Untar is also committed to supporting the growth of talents and interests across various fields. One of these is sports. To facilitate this, Untar has established a number of Student Activity Units (UKM) dedicated to sports as platforms for student development.

Untar remains one of the universities that consistently provides such support. Through its various sports organizations, students can channel their potential, sharpen their skills, and achieve accomplishments at both national and international levels.

Recent achievements include successes by the Untar Taekwondo Student Activity Unit (read more), as well as accomplishments by Untar alumni at the National Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Nasional) through individual championship victories (read more). In addition, to strengthen relationships among members of the academic community, Untar regularly organizes sports activities for employees, including friendly sports competitions (read more).

In higher education, sports play an important role in shaping students’ character. Sporting activities not only provide health benefits but also cultivate discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Universities that encourage students to pursue their interests and develop their talents in sports help produce a generation that is healthy, accomplished, and possesses strong integrity.

The following sports organizations are available at Untar:

– Liga Basket Tarumanagara (LIBAMA)
– Liga Futsal Tarumanagara
– Liga Bulu Voli Tarumanagara (LIVOSTA)
– Liga Bulu Tangkis Universitas Tarumanagara (LBUT)
– Liga Tenis Meja Untar (LTMU)
