The Faculty of Psychology at Untar organized a Humanities Learning Methods Workshop for lecturers teaching Humanities courses across all study programs at Untar. The event was held at Campus I Untar on Monday (11/8/2025) under the theme “Humanities Education: Shaping an Excellent, High-Quality, and Globally Minded Generation.”

The workshop was opened by Rector of Untar, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., who emphasized the importance of Humanities as a compulsory subject mandated for all higher education institutions in Indonesia.

“Humanities should not merely serve as a formal academic requirement, but should also help shape students’ character and broaden their perspectives, producing graduates who are both outstanding and adaptable in the global arena,” he said.

The workshop featured three speakers: Special Staff to the Steering Committee of the Indonesian Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP RI) and lecturer at Universitas Sanata Dharma Yogyakarta, Dr. Haryatmoko, SJ; Pancasila and Civic Education lecturer at IPB University Bogor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sedarnawati Yasni, M.Agr; and Prof. Dr. Rasji, S.H., M.H. from Untar. The discussion was moderated by Bonar Hutapea, S.Psi., M.Psi., a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology Untar.

One of the key points highlighted during the workshop was the application of ethics in the learning process, which was defined through the principles of transparency, honesty, and fairness. By strengthening these values, Humanities courses are expected to serve as a strategic platform for developing young generations who are not only academically competent but also possess strong integrity.

The workshop provided a collaborative forum for lecturers to exchange ideas and share effective teaching strategies while reinforcing Untar’s commitment to delivering character-based education rooted in national values and prepared to compete on the global stage. (VC/YS)
