Untar and ICAEW Collaboration Introduces Blockchain-Based Financial Technology

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Untar, Prof. Dr. Sawidji Widoatmodjo, S.E., M.M., M.B.A., welcomed a visit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) during the ICAEW Student Event 2024, held on Thursday, October 10, at the Auditorium of Building M, Untar Campus I. In his opening speech, Sawidji emphasized the importance of innovation in accounting education. He also highlighted that the collaboration between FEB Untar and ICAEW in certification programs is crucial for preparing students for the workforce. “Innovative education is key to preparing students to face global challenges. This collaboration is vital for ensuring students can enter the workforce with internationally recognized competencies,” he added.
ICAEW Indonesia, represented by Dames Maharani, introduced the certifications and exams that students can take. Dames also outlined ICAEW’s vision and mission in supporting accounting education in Indonesia, as well as providing information on activities and opportunities for students. The event featured Nikhil Joshi, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Emurgo, as a speaker, with a session on “From Blockchain to Business: The Economics of Crypto and Opportunities for Accounting Professionals.” In his session, Nikhil shared his experience transitioning from traditional financial sectors to blockchain-based financial technology. He explained the potential and challenges of applying blockchain in business and how young people can leverage this technological development. Nikhil also emphasized the importance of adaptability for economic professionals amid rapid technological changes and market dynamics. He provided new insights into the latest trends in accounting and business, particularly in the blockchain field. “Young generations must be ready to seize the opportunities offered by new technology. Skills in blockchain and digital innovation will be a competitive advantage in the future,” he stated.
Also present were the Head of the Business Accounting Program, Hendro Lukman, S.E., M.M., CPMA, CA, CPA (Aust.), CSRS, ACPA, and students from FEB Untar.
