An Untar team consisting of two students from the Faculty of Law (FH), Evan Tjoa Putra and Sarah Milenia Lie, represented Indonesia’s higher education sector at the International Client Consultation Competition (ICCC), held at John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin, Poland, from 7–14 April 2024.

The ICCC is an international competition specifically designed for law students to develop their legal interviewing and client counseling skills through realistic case scenarios. This year’s competition focused on International Humanitarian Law, a theme closely related to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

ICCC President Mr. Steven Austemiller emphasized the importance of the competition in preparing future legal professionals, as it teaches participants how to remain empathetic while providing clear and practical solutions for clients.

During the competition, participants, including the Untar team, were challenged with a range of complex legal scenarios that required them to offer accurate and empathetic legal advice to fictional clients facing issues related to International Humanitarian Law. The event brought together 24 teams from participating countries around the world.

According to Evan, taking part in the competition was a highly valuable experience, not only from an academic perspective but also in terms of gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures represented by participating countries.

“We are very proud to represent Indonesia on this international stage,” he said. (LA/YS/KJ)
