Muhamad Sobirin was declared a Doctor of Civil Engineering in the open session of the Civil Engineering Doctoral Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Untar, Thursday (23/11) at Campus I Untar.
In the session, Muhamad Sobirin defended his dissertation entitled “OHS Risk Level Factors in Various High-Rise Buildings in State-Owned and Private Contractors”. His dissertation focused on occupational health and safety (OHS) risks and the implementation of OHS management by state-owned and private contractors in high-rise building projects.
Muhamad Sobirin said his dissertation started from the fact that the implementation of OHS in high-rise building projects is still not optimal, characterized by the lack of understanding of officers in the field related to OHS.
His research revealed that OHS risk management in high-rise building projects in Indonesia needs to be improved, referring to Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 10 of 2021. He also revealed that state-owned contractors have a smaller level of OHS risk than private contractors.
Principal Promoter Prof. Dr. Ir. Naniek Widayati Priyomarsono, M.T. said Muhamad Sobirin’s dissertation could be useful for the advancement of civil engineering in Indonesia. Furthermore, she hopes his dissertation can be applied to reduce the number of OHS risks in high-rise building projects.
Graduated with satisfactory predicate, Muhamad Sobirin became the 72nd graduate of Civil Engineering Science Doctoral Program of FT Untar.
The session was chaired by Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan M.T., M.M., I.PU., A.E. and as examiners Prof. Dr. Ir. Roesdiman Soegiarso, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir.
