The Training and Education Center (Pusdiklat) organized the Art Therapy for Everyone program at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) Campus I throughout May and June 2026. Consisting of four workshop sessions, the program featured professional psychologists who explored various mental health topics through art therapy and self-reflection. It was designed for participants seeking to better understand their psychological well-being and develop healthier ways of managing their emotions through a combination of theoretical discussions and hands-on art therapy activities.

The first two sessions were successfully held in early May 2026, featuring experienced psychologists as speakers. The opening session took place on Wednesday (06/05/2026), with Untung Subroto, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog presenting “Art Therapy for Anxiety.” Participants were guided to recognize anxiety and better understand their emotional responses through artistic expression. The following day, Thursday (07/05/2026), the program continued with “Art Therapy for Self Compassion,” delivered by Reza Fahlevi, S.K.M., M.M., M.Psi., Psikolog. The session emphasized the importance of self-acceptance and cultivating self-compassion as essential components of maintaining good mental health.

In his opening remarks, Head of Pusdiklat Dr. dr. Arlends Chris, M.Si. expressed his hope that the program would serve as more than just a theoretical learning experience. “It is also intended to be an applied learning activity that provides participants with direct experience in recognizing and expressing their emotional conditions,” he said.

Each workshop session was designed to be interactive and consisted of two main components. Participants first completed a self-assessment worksheet prepared by the organizing committee. Guided by prompts presented during the session, they reflected on their personal emotional conditions and documented their responses before the speaker introduced the session’s main topic.

In addition to attending the presentations, participants took part in practical exercises to directly apply the principles of art therapy. Using two blank sheets of paper and crayons provided by the organizers, they were encouraged to express their emotions, experiences, and self-understanding through drawings. This activity served as a visual medium for emotional expression while helping participants gain deeper insight into their emotional well-being.

The Art Therapy for Everyone series continued with two additional sessions. Linda Wati, M.Psi., Psikolog presented “Art Therapy and Mindfulness” on Wednesday (13/05/2026), while Roswiyani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D., Psikolog was scheduled to lead “Art Therapy for Happiness” on Thursday (04/06/2026). Together, these sessions completed a comprehensive program designed to deepen participants’ understanding of mental health through art, self-reflection, and experiential learning. (VC/YS)
