Untar once again held the eighth National Seminar Series (Serina VIII) under the theme “Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Developing High-Quality Human Resources” on Wednesday (19/6/2024) at Campus I Untar.
In his opening remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. expressed his hope that the seminar would serve as a platform for expanding networks, exchanging ideas, and fostering positive changes in society toward the development of an excellent and competitive community.
Serina VIII featured speakers from academia, including AI and Knowledge Graphs researcher at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia, Fariz Darari, S.Kom., M.Sc., Ph.D., and lecturer from the Faculty of Psychology Untar, Dr. Rostiana, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog.
The seminar also invited Human Resources (HR) Senior Manager of Vinilon Group Ignatia Gisella, S.Psi., CHRP. as a representative from industry. The session was moderated by Dr. Meirista Wulandari, S.T., M.Eng. from the Faculty of Engineering Untar.
Fariz explained the significant role of AI in everyday life and the benefits it offers to society. He highlighted how the technology has become an integral part of various aspects of life, ranging from business operations to the creative industry.
In the business sector, AI helps optimize operations, enhance customer experiences, and analyze market trends. Meanwhile, in the creative industry, AI facilitates innovation through the creation of artwork and various forms of digital content.
On the other hand, Rostiana discussed the challenges and opportunities involved in developing high-quality human resources amid the rapid advancement of AI technologies.
“Ethics and morality must always accompany educational processes and human resource development that are oriented toward technology,” she explained.
Ignatia focused on the role of AI in education and the workplace. She described how AI can improve efficiency and effectiveness across various processes while preparing human resources to adapt to future technological changes.
Serina VIII involved participants from six universities, namely Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Pancasila, Institut Bisnis dan Informatika Kwik Kian Gie, and Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi, alongside Untar. A total of 74 research articles and 170 community service articles were presented during the event. (MS/KJ)
