Tarumanagara University (Untar) Interior Design student, Vonny Kornellya, has won the top award at the 2025 Youth Interior Design Award (Y.iD 2025), held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Her eco-friendly multisensory space concept was recognized for its outstanding approach to sustainability while also promoting the psychological well-being of its users.
The competition, themed “Interior Multisensory Experience for Sustainability”, drew participation from hundreds of students representing universities across the country. Following two rigorous rounds of judging, the top five designs were selected for exhibition at the Youth.iD Award 2025 booth in Halls A-B of the Jakarta Convention Center. The event was organized by the Indonesian Society of Interior Designers (HDII) in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Interior Design Universities (APSDI), with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Megabuild organizing committee.
The panel of judges—comprising leading figures in the design industry such as Irene Umar (Deputy Minister of Creative Economy), Lea Aviliani Aziz (PT Elenbee Cipta Desain), Francis Surjaseputra (PT Axon Sembilan Puluh), and Imelda Akmal (Archinesia)—evaluated each entry based on creativity, sustainability, functionality, and alignment with the theme.
In her opening remarks, Irene Umar emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering youth creativity. “The government will continue to support the development of design creativity so it can contribute globally and help lead Indonesia toward its Golden Vision 2045,” she said.
Vonny’s achievement also serves as a testament to the ability of Untar students to compete at the national level while creating meaningful social and environmental impact. Her concept, which emphasized sustainable technology, was considered highly relevant to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure—positioning her as an inspiration for the next generation of young designers.
