Two Information Systems scholars from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Prof. Chadi Aoun and Prof. Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul, attended the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) graduation ceremony (Yudisium) at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) on Wednesday (8/7/2026) at Untar Campus I.
Their visit formed part of Untar’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic collaboration while providing students with broader global perspectives.
Prof. Chadi Aoun and Prof. Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul are both distinguished academics in the field of Information Systems. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2027, Carnegie Mellon University ranks third globally in Computer Science & Information Systems. Meanwhile, U.S. News & World Report recognizes the university as home to one of the world’s leading Information Systems programs.
During the ceremony, Prof. Savanid delivered an inspirational address to the graduates, encouraging them to pursue continuous personal growth, challenge their own limits, and harness technology to develop solutions for future challenges.
“Technology will continue to evolve, but the greatest impact always comes from people who never stop learning, build collaborations across disciplines, and use their knowledge to solve real-world problems. Keep growing, never be afraid to push beyond your limits, and use technology to create a positive impact on society,” she said.

Following the graduation ceremony, the two professors visited the Educational Cognition and Technology Innovation (ECTI) Laboratory at Untar’s Faculty of Psychology. During the visit, they engaged in discussions with faculty members and students on the latest developments in research, the application of technology in education, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving innovations that benefit society.
The visit is expected to further strengthen Untar’s international academic network while opening up broader opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and innovation development. For students, the opportunity to interact with academics from a world-class university provides valuable exposure to global developments in knowledge and technology, helping them broaden their perspectives and better prepare for future global challenges.
