Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Tarumanagara (Fikom Untar) held the 2026 Seminar Mahasiswa Komunikasi Industri dan Masyarakat (SMKIM) under the theme “Collaboration of Knowledge, Practice, and Real Action Toward the SDGs” at the Auditorium of M Building, 8th Floor, Untar Campus I, Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
The annual two-day event served as an interactive learning platform for students across different semesters to better understand the continuously evolving communication and marketing industries.
On the first day, the seminar featured speakers including Co-Founder of Nyanyi Bareng Jakarta Gladys Santoso, anthropologist and researcher in sports, media, and social studies Faridhian Anshari, as well as Corporate Communications representative of PT Grand Indonesia Serena Emerald, who is also an alumna of Fikom Untar.
The speakers discussed the role of communities, media, and brand communication strategies in building emotional connections with young audiences.
Meanwhile, the second day of the seminar featured Vice President of Sustainability at Kompas Gramedia Wisnu Nugroho, Director & Co-Founder of WeNetwork Karina Saridewi, as well as Joedea Aris Theofilus from the Communication and Media Division of the Office of Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Culture.
During the discussion sessions, the speakers emphasized that community-based approaches have now become an important strategy in building more authentic relationships with audiences while also strengthening the social impact of communication initiatives.
Secretary of the Fikom Untar Study Program, Septia Winduwati, explained that SMKIM 2026 was designed to provide students with learning experiences that are not only theoretical, but also practical and aligned with the current needs of the communication industry.
“Through this activity, students are expected to understand the development of modern communication while also developing ideas and communication strategies that are relevant to societal needs,” she stated.
SMKIM 2026 represents Fikom Untar’s effort to encourage students to broaden their perspectives on the industry and understand the importance of collaboration between academic knowledge, professional practice, and real action in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
