Every April 23, the world commemorates World Book Day as a momentum to encourage reading interest and recognize the importance of literacy in everyday life. In 2026, the celebration once again serves as a reminder that reading culture continues to evolve alongside technological advancements.
As a higher education institution that upholds literacy values, Untar actively contributes to fostering reading habits among students. Literacy is no longer limited to physical books or conventional research materials, but has also expanded into digital formats such as electronic books (e-books), which can now be easily accessed anytime and anywhere.
The accessibility of e-books has become one of the key factors in increasing reading interest among younger generations. Students are able to obtain academic references as well as leisure reading materials through digital devices, making the learning process more flexible and efficient.
In addition, Untar provides library facilities in each faculty as a tangible form of support for students’ academic activities. These libraries not only support learning and research preparation, but also encourage the growth of reading interest as part of an intellectual lifestyle.
Beyond that, Untar also operates the Tarumanagara Knowledge Center (TKC), which serves as a central information resource hub for the academic community. The facility offers a wide range of book collections, from nonfiction to fiction, allowing students to broaden their knowledge while also developing their imagination.
Through various facilities and its adaptation to technological developments, Untar continues to demonstrate its commitment to cultivating a literacy culture that remains relevant to the times. The commemoration of World Book Day 2026 therefore becomes an important momentum to encourage students to become more enthusiastic readers, both through physical and digital books, to build a generation that is critical, creative, and knowledgeable.
