The Faculty of Architecture, Planning, and Real Estate (FAPRE) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), in collaboration with Ikatan Ahli Perencanaan Jakarta and Community for Maritime Studies Indonesia, organized a panel discussion titled “Jakarta Resilient Coast: An Adaptive and Resilient Coastal Future” at the Executive Lounge of the Tarumanagara Knowledge Center, Main Building, Untar Campus I, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/04/2026).

The panel discussion served as a collaborative platform for academics, practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss the challenges of developing Jakarta’s coastal areas amid climate change, urbanization, and increasingly dynamic urban growth.

Through the theme presented, the event aimed to encourage the emergence of innovative ideas and solutions in creating coastal areas that are more adaptive, sustainable, and resilient in facing future challenges.

The event featured speakers from various academic and professional backgrounds, including FAPRE Untar lecturer Suryono Herlambang, S.T., M.Sc.; T.S.N.B. Hutabarat as Special Staff to the Chief of Naval Staff and advisor to Community for Maritime Studies Indonesia; and Isnawa Adji, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta.

In their presentations, the speakers emphasized the importance of coastal planning that integrates environmental, social, economic, and regional resilience aspects. Coastal development, they noted, should not solely focus on infrastructure construction, but must also consider ecosystem sustainability and community quality of life.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of synergy among government institutions, academics, communities, and society in formulating policies and urban planning that are more responsive to environmental changes.

The event formed part of Untar’s commitment to supporting the advancement of knowledge while providing an academic discussion platform relevant to urban and environmental issues. Through collaboration with Ikatan Ahli Perencanaan Jakarta and Community for Maritime Studies Indonesia, Untar hopes the discussion will strengthen the contribution of higher education institutions in supporting sustainable urban development in Indonesia.
