Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) organized a Humanities Seminar themed “Internalizing Pancasila Values through Humanities to Strengthen National Culture and Collective Anti-Corruption and Anti-Drug Awareness” held virtually on Wednesday (08/04/2026).

The seminar, attended by students, formed part of an inclusive learning initiative to fulfill compulsory national courses, including Indonesian Language, Pancasila, Religion, and Citizenship Education.

Head of the Institute for Learning and Academic Innovation, Dr. Ir. Steven Darmawan, S.T., M.T., stated that the seminar was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of anti-corruption and anti-drug issues through a project-based humanities approach. “Humanities reflect inclusivity in the field of education while also serving as an effort to fulfill compulsory national courses in a contextual and impactful way,” he explained. Through this approach, students are expected to produce works such as videos, posters, and scientific articles by the end of the semester.

In her remarks, Untar Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psychologist, emphasized the importance of early education regarding corruption prevention. “Students need to understand situations that may lead to corrupt behavior and develop attitudes to prevent it from an early stage,” she stated.

The seminar featured a presentation by Dr. Ir. Wawan Wardiana, M.T., Deputy for Education and Community Participation at Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), who discussed strengthening anti-corruption values from a humanities perspective. In his presentation, he explained that corruption knows no age boundaries and can begin from everyday behavior. “Actions such as cheating, lying, plagiarism, and attendance fraud are seeds of corruption that must be avoided starting from the university environment,” he said.

He further emphasized that combating corruption requires multiple approaches. “Law enforcement alone is not enough. Systemic prevention and education are necessary to instill anti-corruption values,” he added.

In the following session, Prof. Sri Tiatri also highlighted the importance of strengthening Pancasila values amid globalization. “In the midst of rapid global changes, we must continue to uphold the nation’s ideology so that we do not lose our direction,” she remarked.

Through this activity, Untar hopes students will not only understand Pancasila values theoretically but also be able to implement them in their daily lives. In addition, Untar students are expected to participate in the series of humanities activities and produce anti-corruption and anti-drug research that can create positive impacts not only within the campus environment but also for the wider community.
