Plans for international academic collaboration were discussed during a meeting between Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) and University of Dundee at Untar Campus I, Jakarta, on Thursday (5/2/2026). The meeting marked an initial step toward exploring joint study programs that would allow students to undertake cross-country academic studies.
The delegation from the University of Dundee consisted of Professor Kim Dale FRSB and Joanne Bradley. They were welcomed by Rector of Universitas Tarumanagara, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., alongside Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog and other institutional leaders.
The initial discussions focused on the possibility of implementing flexible study schemes. Students may have the opportunity to complete part of their studies in Indonesia and the remaining part in Scotland. One option currently under consideration is a two-year study period at Untar followed by two years at Dundee, although the final form of collaboration is still under review.
Representatives from the University of Dundee explained that students would need to spend at least one year studying on their campus. Future program options will be determined based on academic compatibility, financial considerations, and internal regulatory requirements of both universities. Possible funding support was also discussed, although the LPDP scholarship scheme is currently available only for postgraduate programs.
Several academic fields are considered potential areas for student participation, including accounting, psychology, engineering, as well as architecture and planning. The selection will later be adjusted to students’ academic backgrounds.
The next stage of the collaboration process involves curriculum validation to ensure alignment in learning outcomes and academic standards. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for March and may involve leaders from both institutions. (KS/YS)
