The Interior Design Study Program (DI), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD Untar), presents industry-oriented learning through the “BLANCO Design Competition: Designing The Future of Kitchen Living,” a design competition in collaboration with BLANCO, a leading brand in kitchen equipment. The final and awarding ceremony was held on Friday (05/12/2025) at EPIC Design Space, Building R, Campus I Untar.
A total of 20 finalists presented their best works before the panel of judges, consisting of BLANCO Asia Pacific Regional Sales Director Jeffrey Soh, Eurotheum Creative Director Orlena Kusnadi, DI Untar lecturer Dwi Sulistyawati, S.Sn., M.T.Ars., and DI Untar alumni Davin Dwi Purnomo. The finalists showcased design concepts that combined aesthetics, functionality, and an understanding of user needs in the modern era—competencies that are increasingly essential in the interior design industry.
In his remarks, Jeffrey Soh appreciated the finalists who had reached the final stage of the competition. He emphasized that each work carried its own story and character worthy of appreciation. “I want to support all the works from the finalists who have made it to this final stage. I believe each of your works has its own unique story and background,” he said.

Head of the Undergraduate Interior Design Program at Untar, Dr. Maitri Widya Mutiara, S.Ds., M.M., stated that such activities serve as an important platform to connect students with industry realities. According to her, industry-supported design competitions provide students with broad opportunities to sharpen their competencies, understand market demands, and learn professional standards. She emphasized that showcasing winning works at the Indonesia Design District (IDD) demonstrates that the industry is in need of fresh ideas from young designers.
After a series of presentations, the jury announced the winners of the competition. First Place was awarded to Charine Erdianti, followed by Natasya Putri as Second Place, Kayne Pratama as Third Place, and Prisilia Pingkan Makanoneng as Favorite Winner. Charine impressed the judges with her work titled “Timeless Precision: A Mid-Century Modern Kitchen Design,” a concept inspired by the 1940–1960s aesthetic combined with seamless modern kitchen features. According to Charine, the choice of the Mid-Century Modern theme was driven by increasing market interest in this style, making her design both artistically appealing and commercially relevant.
Charine expressed her gratitude and pride for the achievement. For her, joining competitions is not only about winning, but about the courage to give one’s best. “Joining competitions is not about winning, but about having the courage to give the best of ourselves,” she said.
Through this competition, the collaboration between Untar and BLANCO not only creates applied learning opportunities for students but also strengthens DI Untar’s position as an institution that consistently prepares young designers with relevant insights, innovative capabilities, and sensitivity to market needs.
