The Institute for Learning and Academic Innovation (Lembel) of Untar organized the Impactful Curriculum Workshop on academic innovation on Thursday–Friday (07–08/08/2025) at Graha Swara, Campus I Untar. Carrying the theme “Designing Future-Ready Curriculum Toward Excellence, Flexibility, and Global Impact,” the event was attended by deans, heads of study programs, and study program secretaries from all faculties.

The workshop was part of Untar’s strategic efforts to adapt its curriculum in order to enhance the relevance and competitiveness of graduates in addressing the challenges of global higher education. Its primary focus was strengthening the understanding and implementation of the Impactful Curriculum, as well as facilitating the transition from the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Curriculum to an Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based Impactful Curriculum, in line with directives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek).

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog, emphasized the importance of curriculum adaptation in preparing future-ready graduates capable of meeting the demands of an evolving world during her opening remarks.

“An impactful curriculum is not only about the content being taught, but also about the learning process that develops graduates’ competencies, character, and global competitiveness,” she stated.

Head of the Institute for Learning and Academic Innovation, Dr. Ir. Steven Darmawan, S.T., M.T., highlighted the importance of developing curricula through a collaborative and structured approach.

“An impactful curriculum is a shared necessity that must be designed responsively and measurably,” he explained.

The event also featured Ir. Mervin Tangguar Hutabarat, MSc., Ph.D., Representative of the Higher Education Curriculum Team from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, who explained that current higher education policies are oriented toward quality and tangible impact. “This adaptation is part of a systemic and sustainable effort to improve the quality of education,” he said.

“Curricula must continue to evolve in line with advances in knowledge and the needs of the workforce. In this way, university graduates can make meaningful contributions to society,” Ir. Mervin added.

In addition to expert presentations, workshop participants developed and presented preliminary drafts of the Impactful Curriculum tailored to the characteristics of their respective study programs.

Through this initiative, Untar reaffirmed its commitment to developing a curriculum that is excellent, adaptive, and capable of creating meaningful impact at both the national and global levels. (VC/YS)
