Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., welcomed an assessment team as part of the field evaluation process for the establishment of the Professional Architect Education Study Program under the Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Untar on Thursday (4/7/2024) at the Executive Lounge, Untar Campus I.
The assessment team consisted of Dr. Ir. Agustinus Adib Abadi, M.Sc. from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Dr. Ir. Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra, S.T., S.Ds., M.A., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. from Universitas Udayana, Lingga Kresna Adiputra, S.Kom. from the Directorate of Institutional Affairs, and Mulhadi H.M., S.H., M.H. from the Higher Education Service Institution Region III (LLDikti III).
In his remarks, the Rector expressed his hope that the visitation process would contribute positively to the development of higher education in Indonesia, particularly in the field of architecture.
“This visitation is very important because if the program is approved and receives official authorization, Untar will be able to admit new students to the Professional Architect Education Study Program in the upcoming odd semester,” he said.
The Rector added that the program is expected to produce highly competent architects who will contribute not only to higher education but also to Indonesia’s overall development.
Representing the assessment team, Lingga expressed appreciation for Untar’s achievement in reaching the field evaluation stage of the program establishment process. He emphasized the significance of this milestone in addressing Indonesia’s growing demand for qualified architects.
“As a developing country in ASEAN with rapid growth in the construction industry, Indonesia requires more qualified architects to meet the continuously increasing demand,” he stated.
During the visitation, the assessors conducted a field review covering governance, quality assurance, human resources, alumni, graduates, and institutional partnerships. The evaluation also included a review of the curriculum, the Study Program Management Unit (UPS), and evaluation reports. Recommendations will be provided if deemed necessary.
Also present at the event were the Chair of the Association of Indonesian Architectural Higher Education Institutions (APTARI), Dr. Yulianto Purwono Prihatmaji, S.T., M.T., I.P.M., I.A.I., representatives of the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), and members of Untar’s leadership team.
