Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) held a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at Untar Campus II, Jakarta, on Monday (17/08/2026). The ceremony, which carried the theme “Sovereign and Prosperous Indonesia,” also marked the conclusion of the 2026 Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) Untar series.
Untar Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog., served as the ceremony inspector. The event was attended by students from the 2026 cohort, as well as representatives of the Indonesian University Student Regiment Alumni Association (IARMI), members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
In her address, the Vice Rector said that students have a role as agents of change in advancing the nation’s independence. This role can be realized through concrete actions, dedication, and integrity in carrying out their responsibilities as students.
According to her, this responsibility is reflected in adherence to norms, commitment to the learning process, and the ability to apply knowledge to provide solutions for society.
“Let us make the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia a moment of collective renewal by studying diligently, creating with sincerity, and upholding the noble values of Pancasila and Untar’s values in every step of our service,” she said.

She also reminded students to make the values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Entrepreneurship (IPE) a foundation for character development.
The Vice Rector explained that integrity is essential for building strong moral character. Professionalism is demonstrated through commitment and discipline in carrying out academic responsibilities and student activities. Meanwhile, entrepreneurship is reflected in perseverance, innovation, and creativity.
The ceremony was enlivened by a performance from the Universitas Tarumanagara Choir (PSUT), which performed national compulsory songs. The Citra Pesona Student Activity Unit (UKM) also presented traditional dances from Java, Kalimantan, and Sumatra.
In addition to Untar students, the ceremony was attended by international students participating in student exchange programs.
The commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia also brought the 2026 PKKMB Untar series to a close, following activities held since August 12, 2026.
