In his opening remarks, Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. emphasized that qualitative research requires both intellectual rigor and scientific sensitivity toward the realities being studied. He noted that the seminar reflected Untar’s commitment to enhancing the quality of academic resources, particularly in the development of qualitative research methodologies.
“This event holds strategic value because it can expand inter-university collaboration, enhance lecturers’ academic reputation, and foster a stronger academic culture, particularly in the development of qualitative research methods,” said the Rector of Untar.
In his keynote speech, Prof. Syarifuddin highlighted the importance of understanding the human dimension behind the numbers in the field of accounting. He explained that phenomenology goes beyond quantitative data by exploring individuals’ experiences, emotions, and subjective realities.
“Phenomenology teaches us to study human experience—not merely to ask questions, but to understand what it feels like to live through those experiences,” he explained. He added that a phenomenological approach can bring a more human-centered perspective to accounting science.
Through the seminar, participants gained a deeper understanding of qualitative research approaches and phenomenological methods while broadening their perspectives on subjective realities in research. The event also served as a platform for interactive discussion and the strengthening of academic networks among higher education institutions. (VC/YS)
