Students from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) won one gold medal and three bronze medals at the international Indonesian Inventors Day (IID) 2026, held at SMESCO Indonesia, Jakarta, from October 3–6, 2026. The achievements were earned through four innovative projects in technology and engineering.
The four entries were Archimedes Renewable Power Generator, High-Efficiency Shoe Dryer with Heat and Airflow System, Smart Vision Waste Sorter, and Sand Beach Conveyor’26. These innovations were developed to offer technological solutions that can be applied to everyday life.
IID 2026 was part of the World Invention and Technology Expo (WINTEX), an international event that brings together inventors, researchers, and innovators from various fields. With the theme Build By Idea, Shaped By People, the event provided a platform to introduce developments in science and technology.
In addition to the competition, the event featured an exhibition of various innovations, ranging from finished products and prototypes to testing models. Participants also had opportunities to exchange ideas, expand their networks, and explore potential collaborations in technology.
Untar Mechanical Engineering Study Program Head Ir. Didi Widya Utama, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., who accompanied the students during the competition, expressed his appreciation for their achievements. He said the results demonstrate the students’ potential to develop projects that go beyond technological skills and deliver practical benefits to society.
Didi hopes that innovations developed through final projects or capstone design will continue to be improved in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He also emphasized the importance of continuing to develop student projects so that innovations do not stop at competitions but can be applied to address the needs of society.
This achievement reflects Untar Mechanical Engineering students’ efforts to develop their competencies by applying their knowledge to create innovations with practical benefits. (CJ/YS)
