Untar strengthened students’ information literacy and critical thinking skills through the iNews Campus Connect (ICC) 2026, held on September 29–30, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Main Building, Untar Campus I.
The activity was part of an effort to equip students with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of misinformation and disinformation amid the rapid development of communication technology.
iNews Media Group representative Masirom, who serves as COO of IDX Channel and Editor-in-Chief of Okezone, emphasized the importance of information verification amid the rapid development of media technology. According to him, the public needs to be increasingly careful in choosing credible and trustworthy information sources.
“Use sources from mainstream media outlets that follow established media standards and regulations to reduce the spread of misinformation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Untar Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog. expressed hope that the activity would broaden students’ understanding of the media industry and professional world while connecting academic knowledge with practical experience.
“Students’ abilities, skills, and knowledge are key factors in determining the success of fresh graduates in the broad media industry,” she said.
Under the theme “Connecting Ideas, Inspiring Futures,” ICC 2026 also featured badminton player Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and comedian and content creator Rizky Podos in a talk show session that brought together experiences from different fields.
Untar is the only higher education institution to have partnered with iNews to organize ICC three times. The collaboration provides students with opportunities to gain firsthand insights from media practitioners and creative industry professionals.
Through its collaboration with iNews Media Group, Untar continues to provide learning opportunities that foster students’ creativity, integrity, and professionalism. These skills are expected to benefit students not only in the professional world but also in shaping a younger generation that is more responsible in receiving and sharing information within society.
