The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Forum Ukhuwah Tarumanagara (FUT) organized a National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) competition for students on Tuesday (3/3/2026) at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus I of Universitas Tarumanagara.
The concept of this year’s event was generally similar to previous editions. The main difference lay in the participant segmentation. While last year’s competition targeted university students, this year’s MTQ involved participants from elementary school (SD) to senior high school (SMA/equivalent) levels, including both public schools and Islamic madrasahs. This change in segmentation became a strategic step to foster love for the Qur’an from an early age while expanding the reach of Islamic outreach.
This year’s MTQ featured four competition categories: Qur’an recitation (Tilawatil Qur’an), sermon delivery (Khutbah), Adzan (Islamic call to prayer), and calligraphy. In addition to the competitions, the event also included Islamic study sessions and collective prayers, further strengthening the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan.
The timing of the MTQ was intentionally aligned with the month of Ramadan. This momentum added special value to the event by creating an atmosphere that further encouraged participants to deepen their love for and connection with the Qur’an.
While last year’s event served as a platform to strengthen relationships among university students and campuses, this year’s MTQ became a platform for school students to develop their talents in Islamic fields while also building the character of a younger generation grounded in moral and spiritual values.
Beyond serving as a competition, the National MTQ also became an opportunity to introduce Universitas Tarumanagara to younger generations. The organizers hope that holding the event during Ramadan will make it not only a competition but also a meaningful moment to strengthen ukhuwah (brotherhood) and expand Islamic outreach within educational environments.
