Hosting seminars featuring experts and industry practitioners has become a regular post-midterm activity at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) Untar. Known as Practitioner Week, the event is organized annually to provide active students with direct exposure to professionals from various sectors of the communication industry.

Carrying the theme “Communication in the Innovation Ecosystem: Bridging Higher Education, Industry, and the Public,” the program was held over three days, from 13–15 October 2025, at the Auditorium of Campus I Untar.

In line with its objective, Practitioner Week featured speakers from a wide range of industries relevant to Fikom Untar’s three areas of specialization—Public Relations, Advertising, and Journalism. Each speaker shared insights and professional experiences related to career development and the evolving landscape of the communication field.

The event was officially opened by Dean of Fikom Untar, Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si., who emphasized that the program was designed to provide students with valuable insights, opportunities, and career prospects aligned with their interests and academic concentrations.

“We hope that the next three days will serve as an opportunity for Fikom Untar students to gain new perspectives on the professional ecosystem of the communication industry they may pursue in the future,” said Dr. Riris.

On the first day, Fikom Untar welcomed Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Commissioner Aliyah, S.S., M.L., and SORE film Executive Producer Agustinus Lee Martin as keynote speakers.

The program continued on the second day with a session led by Lisa Yumi, Founder and CEO of Prabu Indonesia. The event also featured Titin Rosmasari, Editor-in-Chief of CNN Indonesia, who shared her views on the importance of collaboration between academia and industry practitioners.

“Practitioner Week is an excellent initiative that should be sustained because it serves as an important platform for connecting students with professionals from various industries,” said Titin Rosmasari during her presentation.

The event concluded on 15 October 2025 with a special session featuring three speakers: Randy Sugiarto, S.I.Kom. (Founder and CEO of Master Culinary Group), Michelle Pangestu, S.I.Kom. (Associate Vice President of Digital Engagement Strategy at IM3), and Natasha Angela, S.I.Kom. (PR & Marketing Executive of Gucci Group Indonesia).

Through Practitioner Week, Fikom Untar continues to strengthen collaboration between higher education and the communication industry, enabling students to gain practical insights while expanding their professional networks and career opportunities. (VS/YS)
