Doc: Humas Untar – WA
Untar held a public lecture with Professor Dr. Stefan Koos, a professor from the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, Germany, who presented the topic “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Copyright” at the Auditorium of Untar’s Campus I on Wednesday (20/11/2024).
Stefan Koos discussed legal and ethical issues related to works produced by AI, with a focus on copyright problems. Key cases included disputes over AI training data, copyright infringements, and the legal status of AI as an inventor.
In the public lecture moderated by Untar’s Faculty of Law lecturer Lewiandy, S.H., M.A., LL.M, Koos explained that rulings from various countries show different approaches to AI’s role in creativity, ranging from strict views focused on humans to more flexible interpretations. The ethical issues in scientific publication, including the use of AI, emphasized the importance of responsible citation and transparency.
Rektor Untar, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., who attended the event, expressed special appreciation to Prof. Dr. Stefan Koos for being a guest speaker and providing insights on the important issues related to AI and copyright.
According to him, AI has great potential in the field of education, including in learning and academic writing, as technology continues to advance. However, he emphasized the importance of paying attention to legal aspects, particularly copyright protection in the use of AI within academic environments.
“I hope the material presented by Prof. Dr. Stefan Koos will provide great benefits and insights for all of us. I also encourage active participation from the participants in the lecture to further discuss AI and copyright,” he emphasized. (WA/YS/WA)
