Interior Design Study Program (Prodi DI) of Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) Untar once again participated in IFFINA-Indonesia Furniture Design Expo 2024 which this year was themed “Between Tradition and Innovation”. The event was held for four days from September 14-17, 2024, in Hall 9, Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD.
Untar displayed two of the best works from Furniture Design Course 3 that carried the concept of “Sustainable Design” with a touch of local Indonesian tradition combined with modern nuances. The works of Feby Permata (615220020) and Joseph Alfred (615220082) were selected to participate in this international exhibition.
Feby created ‘Sedhana Mertha’, a chair made of manau rattan and inspired by the Balinese Kecak Dance culture. Meanwhile, Joseph created ‘Mogelo Chair’, which takes reference from Molunggelo, a hereditary tradition of the Minahasa people to rock a newborn baby.
“I hope my friends can learn and develop in Untar’s DI Study Program so that their works can be exhibited in big events and make the alma mater proud,” said Feby.
Another student of FSRD Untar, Dastine Hariansen Yang (615210006), also contributed through the design of woven products with the motif “Mudita”. This woven product is then produced in collaboration with UMKM Lolini. It is hoped that this brand can suit the younger generation while maintaining Indonesian elements. (VC/YS/KJ)
