The Untar Library organized a Librarian Professional Certification competency assessment in collaboration with the Librarian Certification Institute (LSP) at the Main Building of Untar on 14–15 August 2024.
Chair of the Indonesian Higher Education Library Forum (FPPTI) Irma Irawati Ibrahim, M.Hum., M.Kom., stated that certification can provide added value for institutions that utilize librarian services.
“It can also enhance the image of librarianship as a profession with recognized competencies and, of course, increase librarians’ confidence in facing challenges, changes, and global competition,” she said.
Echoing Irma’s remarks, Head of the Librarian Certification Institute (LSP) Dra. Endang Ernawati, M.Lib., who was also present at the event, explained that certification is intended to enable librarians to perform their duties independently and professionally.
While officially opening the competency assessment, Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. emphasized that librarians will continue to play an important role as the number of new students increases each year. Therefore, the demand for librarian services will remain essential.

Also attending the event were Vice Rector Prof. Dr. H. Rasji., S.H., M.H., and Head of the Untar Library Dr. Harsiti, M.Si. (LA/YS/KJ)
