Synergy among higher education institutions, government, media, industry, and society—known as pentahelix collaboration—has become a key element in fostering inclusive and sustainable development. As one of Indonesia’s oldest and leading educational institutions, Untar remains committed to strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders.
This was conveyed by Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., during the Media Gathering organized by Untar’s Public Relations Office on Friday (9/8/2024) at Vivere Hotel, Banten.
Carrying the theme “The Importance of Leadership in Building the Reputation of Private Higher Education Institutions,” the two-day event was attended by more than 20 journalists representing online, print, radio, and television media outlets.
In his remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of strong leadership in navigating increasingly intense competition within the higher education sector.
“Untar continuously strives to carry out its responsibilities to the highest standards and in accordance with applicable regulations. Support from various stakeholders, including the media, is essential in strengthening Untar’s reputation,” he stated.
Head of Untar’s Public Relations Office Dr. Dra. Paula Tjatoerwidya Anggarina, M.M. revealed that throughout 2024, Untar had published 234 news articles in mass media through collaborations with 32 media partners.
“We hope this collaboration will continue and grow even stronger in the future. This event serves as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Untar and the journalists who have worked closely with us in various Untar activities,” she added.
One of the participants, Kompas.com journalist Yohanes Enggar Harususilo, expressed appreciation for Untar’s consistency in maintaining strong relations with the media. He highlighted the numerous awards received by Untar in the field of public relations and expressed hope that the collaboration could be expanded through joint research initiatives and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) addressing important societal issues.
“Collaboration with the media can go beyond exposure. Universities should not only be ivory towers but also water towers that channel knowledge and innovation to the wider community,” he said.
On the same occasion, the Rector presented a book titled “Governance and Performance of Universitas Tarumanagara 2016–2024” to the Head of the Higher Education Service Institution Region III (LLDikti III), Prof. Dr. Toni Toharudin, S.Si., M.Sc.
The book summarizes Untar’s achievements in enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service over the past eight years. It is expected to inspire other higher education institutions to improve their quality and performance.
The Head of LLDikti III also commended Untar’s achievements, particularly its well-organized and consistent media relations. He stated that Untar deserves to be a model for other universities in improving higher education quality and contributing to society.
“Over the past year, Untar’s achievements have been remarkable, ranging from accreditation and graduate quality to the contributions of lecturers and students in research and international publications. Untar deserves to be entrusted with a greater role in advancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia,” he concluded.
Also attending the event were Untar Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Rasji, S.H., M.H. and Head of General Affairs at LLDikti III Noviyanto, S.T., MMSI. (KJ/YS/KJ)
