Head of the Undergraduate Business Management Program at Untar, Frangky Selamat, officially earned a Doctor of Management Science (DIM) degree after successfully passing the Open Examination of the Doctor of Management Science Program, Graduate School of Untar, on Friday (21/6) at Campus I Untar.
After completing six semesters of study, Frangky graduated by presenting his dissertation entitled “The Influence of Attitude, Subjective Norms, and Perceived Behavioral Control on Affordable Loss Behavior through Behavioral Intention among Small Business Franchisees in Greater Jakarta.”
The study examined the effects of uncertainty, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on affordable loss behavior among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Greater Jakarta area. The research is expected to provide new perspectives on affordable loss behavior while contributing valuable insights for regulators in formulating appropriate policies for small businesses operating in uncertain environments.
Affordable loss refers to a decision-making approach in which business owners determine the level of loss they are willing and able to accept as a result of a particular event or business decision.

Conducted with 200 small business owners in Greater Jakarta as respondents, the study is expected to expand the body of research on the application of the Theory of Planned Behaviour, which posits a relationship between human intention and behavior, particularly in responding to crises such as those experienced during the pandemic.
Co-Promoter Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrus Taba, S.E., M.Si. encouraged Frangky to continue advancing the field of Management Science through research and academic contributions.
Frangky Selamat has served as Head of Untar’s Undergraduate Business Management Program and has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Untar since 1998. (VH/AW/KJ)
