Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. became a guest speaker in the Working Meeting (Raker) with Teachers and Employees of Sang Timur Elementary School DKI – Banten.
The event with the theme “Moving Forward Together to Improve the Quality of Education Services that are Friendly, Integrity, and Collaborative in the Spirit of Manete in Me” took place in the SMAK Sang Timur Tomang Hall, Thursday (5/23).
Opening his session, Agustinus highlighted the difficulty of accessing education in areas with minimal facilities and the struggle of teachers to teach in very limited conditions.
Agustinus conveyed how lucky the teachers in Jakarta are with all the adequate facilities. The struggle of teachers in remote areas should be an inspiration to work harder and more creatively.
On this occasion, Agustinus emphasized the importance of creativity and totality in education services. According to him, teachers in big cities like Jakarta must be able to provide better education than teachers in remote areas.
“If they with all their limitations can provide the best, then we should be able to do much better,” he said.
Furthermore, Agustinus discussed the importance of digital competence for teachers in the digital era. Educators must be able to master technology to improve the quality of education.
He also reminded that education is not only about knowledge transfer, but also character building.
“We must teach students about the values of a good and right life. Character education is very important to form a superior generation,” he said.
In the Q&A session, Agustinus answered various questions from the teachers about the challenges in managing schools and how to improve the quality of education.
He suggested that schools collaborate more with various parties to improve the quality of education.
“Collaboration with other parties is very important. We cannot go it alone. By working together, we can achieve better results,” Agustinus concluded. (KJ/AW/KJ)
