The open session of Civil Engineering Doctoral Study Program of Faculty of Engineering (FT) Untar declared Boris Karlop Lumbangaol worthy of doctoral degree with honors, Monday (29/4) at Auditorium Campus I Untar.

Boris Karlop Lumbangaol successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Inundation Prediction Model of Sustainable Urban Drainage System with LID Concept Case Study of Krukut Watershed”.

His research began with the increase in inundation around the Krukut River Watershed (DAS). According to him, the government has made various efforts, but the results have not been significant.

The man who works at the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA) proposed an inundation prediction model by implementing the “Low Impact Development” (LID) technique.

This technique is a local rainwater management technique that is environmentally friendly, so it can support sustainability.

“The model can be used for Disaster Mitigation by developing an Early Warning System in order to be prepared for future disasters,” Boris said.

He advised the government to use updated land use data in modeling so that the results are more accurate.

On this occasion, Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. as the main promoter conveyed the message to always carry the values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Entrepreneurship in utilizing the knowledge they have.

The session was chaired by the Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. and the examiners were Prof. Dr.-Ing. Herman Parung, M. Eng., Dr. Ir. Hendrik Sulistio, M.T., I.P.M., Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., and Dr. Dyah Indriana Kusumastuti, S.T., M.Sc.

Meanwhile, the main promoter was Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. and the associate promoter was Dr. Ir. Wati Asriningsih Pranoto, M.T.

Boris Karlop Lumbangaol became the 77th graduate of Civil Engineering Doctoral Study Program of Faculty of Engineering Untar. (YI/AW/KJ)
