Untar Taekwondo Team won seven medals in various categories at the Prabu Taekwondo Challenge 7 National Championship at Indoor Stadium Sport Center Tangerang Regency, Sunday (3/3).
Of the seven medals, one gold medal was won by Christoper by taking 1st place in the Senior Men’s Individual Poomsae category.
Meanwhile, six other silver medals were won by Geoffrey Valhart Hariyono in the Kyorugi U-74 Senior Male category, Muhammad Na’il Ammar in the Kyorugi U-63 Senior Male category, Felicia Amanda Sulistio in the Kyorugi U-57 Senior Female category, Ferick Catello in the Kyorugi U-54 Senior Male category, Elviana Vitalia in the Kyorugi U-46 Senior Female category, and Zahwa Shava Olivia Harry Putri in the Kyorugi U-44 Senior Female category.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. expressed his appreciation for the achievements made by Untar Taekwondo team.
According to him, this achievement emphasizes Untar’s commitment in supporting the development of students’ talents and interests, not only in academics, but also in sports.
The seven students who brought home medals came from various faculties including Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Information Technology.
He added that this achievement is a proud momentum and strengthens the positive image of Untar, especially at the national level.
Christoper, a student from the Faculty of Engineering, a gold medalist revealed that he was very proud to be Untar’s representative to compete in the national Taekwondo championship.
“Through this championship, I can also get to know many athletes from various regions in Indonesia,” said Christoper.
On the other hand, Chairman of Taekwondo Untar, Felicia Amanda Sulistio said that the fighting spirit of the Taekwondo Untar team was so great in facing this event.
Felicia also hopes that this achievement can be an inspiration for other students to continue to strive and excel in various fields.
“Dare to dream and try, everyone has the potential to achieve achievements if based on commitment and sincerity,” said Felicia.
Taekwondo Untar is a martial arts student activity unit (UKM), established in 1986 which is part of the Martial Arts League. This UKM undergoes routine training and intensive training to prepare students who are interested in competing both at the regional and national levels. (KJ/AW/PA/KJ)
