Yugih Setyanto earned his doctorate in Communication Science with a very satisfying predicate, Wednesday (31/1). The promotion session was held at Padjadjaran University Campus (Unpad), Jatinangor, West Java.

The lecturer of Untar’s Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Branding of International-Oriented Private Universities (Case Study of Public Relations at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Swiss German University, and President University in Building International-Oriented Brands)”.

In his dissertation, Yugih focused on the brand building process carried out by Public Relations (PR) in internationally oriented private universities.

According to him, the factors that encourage universities to choose internationally oriented brands are globalization and competition among universities in attracting new students. In this case, PR has an important role in communicating the brand to the public.

“PR should play an important role in universities, spearheading the communication of campus excellence to the public,” continued Dr. Yugih.

In his research, he suggested that international-oriented universities should not only show their international identity physically, but also be accompanied by the quality of their learning.

The promotion session was chaired by Dean of Fikom Unpad Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., S.H., M.Si. Meanwhile, as the chairman of the promoter Prof. Dr. Susanne Dida, M.M. with promoter members Dr. Evi Novianti, M.Si. and Dr. Eko Harry Susanto, M.Si.
