Untar together with Kodim 0503/Jakarta Barat, Akademik Refraksi Optisi Gapopin (ARO Gapopin), and Ikatan Dosen Katolik Indonesia (IKDKI) organized a social service of health check-up and free glasses distribution to the community, Tuesday (31/10) at Campus 2 Untar.

The event, which was held in commemoration of the 95th Youth Pledge Day and 64th Anniversary of Untar, was attended by Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M. I.P.U., A.E., West Jakim Kodim Lieutenant Colonel Inf E.S. Siregar, S.I.P., and ARO Gapopin Director Ferry Doringin, Ph.D.

The social service was prioritized to the underprivileged community around Untar campus and West Jakarta Kodim Headquarters. On the occasion, free eyeglasses were also given to people in need.

Dr. Ferry Doringin said that currently eye disorders continue to increase. Research states that in 2050, half of the world’s population is threatened with eye disorders.

“Therefore, this collaborative social service activity is held to prevent this,” said Ferry.

In his speech, the Rector of Untar said that currently there are many problems in health and it is very important to maintain physical and spiritual health. In addition, the issue of maintaining health, both physical and mental health, is an important issue so collaboration on public health is very important.

“Untar through the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Psychology is ready to collaborate in other health activities, contributing to the welfare of the community,” concluded the Rector.

West Jakarta Military District Command Lieutenant Colonel Inf E. S. Siregar appreciated the collaboration in this event. Hopefully, Kodim and Untar can continue to work together in developing similar activities in order to bring benefits to all levels of society. (ZR/YS/AW)
