Lecturers, students, and alumni of the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) Untar collaborated with Grogol Petamburan Sub-district to create a mural under the Grogol intersection overpass, West Jakarta, Saturday (12/8).
The activity, which was carried out in order to welcome the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, featured the faces of Ir. Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta in a graphic style in red, white and black.
Dean of FSRD Dr. Kurnia Setiawan, S.Sn., M.Hum. revealed that the approach of art and design in works in public spaces featuring meritorious figures for Indonesia is expected to build a collective memory of the community that remains alive.
Grogol Petamburan Sub-District Head Agus Sulaiman and Gropet Sub-District Head Drs. Suhardin hoped that the mural activity with FSRD Untar can be a sustainable program.
This activity is one of the activities carried out by FSRD Untar for the people of Jakarta. Last December 2022, FSRD Untar collaborated with Grogol Petamburan Sub-district to create a mural around Campus 1 Untar.
Previously, FSRD Untar collaborated with PT MRT Jakarta and Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Indonesia to paint a mural at Haji Nawi MRT Station, last March 2020. (VW/AW)
