Untar’s Faculty of Engineering (FT) in collaboration with the Indonesian Construction Expert Association (PERTAHKINDO) held a seminar on “The Role and Prospect of Professional and Innovative National Construction Workers in Supporting the Development of Sustainable Construction Professionalism in Indonesia” at Campus 1 Untar, Friday (4/8).
Dean of FT Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. said the seminar was held in line with the emergence of various large-scale and complex construction projects throughout Indonesia.
He hoped the seminar could be used by industry practitioners to continue developing and advancing skilled and innovative human resources.
The main speaker, Coordinator of Division V of the Construction Services Development Institute (LPJK) of the Ministry of PUPR RI Prof. Dr. Manlian Ronald A. Simanjuntak, S.T., M.T., D.Min., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. gave a presentation on tips for directing the construction workforce towards higher professionalism.
Prof. Simanjuntak said that the professionalism of the construction workforce is key to creating high-quality and sustainable projects.
“We need to combine technical expertise with managerial skills and innovation in every stage of the project,” said Prof. Ronald, who is a Professor of Construction Project Management at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).
He added that industry organizations such as PERTAHKINDO and academics from Untar can take a strategic role in answering the challenges and opportunities in the construction workforce through professional and innovative approaches.
“Support can provide an important contribution in the development of a construction workforce that is able to answer the demands of the era of sustainable development in Indonesia,” he concluded.
The event was attended by hundreds of students and the general public who attended online. (SC/AW)
