Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H. was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor in Law in Universitas Tarumanagara Senate Session, Monday (24/7) at Untar Campus I Main Building Auditorium.
The procession of inauguration was presented by Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., A.E., co-witnessed by Dean of the Faculty of Law Untar Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.M., M.Kn.
Inaugurated as a Professor at the age of 38, Prof. Ariawan received Indonesian World-Record Museum (MURI) award as The Youngest Business Law Professor in Indonesia.
Prof. Ariawan believes this achievement would result in real impact for the society.
Furthermore, this achievement is expected to be a motivation for younger generation to contribute positively in their respective fields for the nation.
“I stand by “Ora et Labora’ principle, to pray and always learn, because with God, there is no impossible,” Prof. Ariawan said.
Holding the extra miles philosophy, Prof. Ariawan stated that dreams can be achieved through consistent performance.
“I always learn to run when the others walk. Work when the others are lazy, and awake when the others are asleep,” said the Chairman of Tarumanagara Foundation.
In his scientific oration titled “International Trade Law Renewal: Realizing Free and Fair Trade”, Prof. Ariawan stated that there is a law phenomenon that creates disruption in international free trade post-Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, a fair international trade system has to be implemented shortly to recover from the economic downturn resulted by the pandemic.
“I see that the government has the spirit and effort to revolutionize SMEs to digital platform, particularly in realizing congregative national economic rebound,” Prof. Ariawan said.
Rector believes this inauguration can be a motivation for lecturers to increase their competency and qualifications up to the highest academic rank. This shows the excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.
Prof. Ariawan Gunadi was born in 1985. Graduated Bachelor and Master of Law from Universitas Tarumanagara, Prof. Ariawan continued his Doctoral Study at Universitas Indonesia. In 2012, at the age of 27, Prof. Ariawan managed to finish his doctoral study with cumlaude, making him as the Youngest Universitas Indonesia Doctor of Law. (SC/AW)
