Untar visited SMAK St. Ignasius Loyola in West Manggarai Regency, Labuan Bajo, Thursday (8/6). The visit was to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Untar and St. Ignasius Loyola High School.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., A.E. said that the visit was made to contribute to increasing the potential of local human resources in supporting efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number four, namely Quality Education.
The form of cooperation is in the form of increasing access and quality of education in the region, as well as providing opportunities for students of St. Ignatius Loyola High School to continue their studies to higher education levels.
Rector said one of the important factors of this visit was the geographical context. Labuan Bajo, located in West Manggarai Regency, has become the focus of national and international attention as a super-premium tourist destination. Therefore, the presence of qualified human resources is essential to manage and develop this area.
Hopefully, the collaboration between Untar and SMAK St. Ignasius Loyola will form a young generation that is ready to take an active role in developing Labuan Bajo as a leading tourist destination.
In line with the Rector, Principal Fr. Agustinus Susanto Naba, SVD, S.S. revealed that the cooperation between Untar and St. Ignatius Loyola High School is expected to have a long-term positive impact on West Manggarai Regency, by creating a young generation that is ready to contribute in realizing the vision of sustainable and highly competitive regional development.
During the visit, training activities were also conducted to explore the interests and potential of SMAK St. Ignasius Loyola students. The training program includes an understanding of the various study programs available at Untar, as well as career opportunities that can be followed after graduation.
