Students of the Faculty of Communication Science (Fikom) Untar held Communication Week (Commweek) 2023 at Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta, Saturday (3/6).

The two-day event features various activities such as music show, dance competition, down syndrome awareness, talk show, fashion show, and many others. One of the performers was the appearance of singer Mahen, who is popular with the song “Pura-pura Lupa” and was nominated for the 2020 Indonesian Music Awards in the Best Newcomer category.

Dean of Fikom Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si. during the opening stated that Commweek 2023 is a part of learnings to students, in implementing studies obtained in lectures. Students are able to practice creative thinking, collaboration, and negotiation in organizing an event.

She added, this activity is an implementation to values held by Fikom Untar, which are Humane, Entrepreneurship, Professional, and Integrity (HEPI). She expects this event to be beneficial for students and the public.

Comweek 2023 Head of Committee Alvin Christian Hinandra said that this event is beneficial for him and his friends, as it becomes a platform to study and obtain new experience, while also strengthens the dynamic between Fikom Untar students, especially among 2021 year students.

“Through this event, we could implement the knowledge we obtained in class, especially in becoming an entrepreneur. Here, we learn how to communicate with external parties, negotiate promotions, event organizer, and others,” stated Alvin.

Alvin added that Commweek was held as part of the communication implementation course undertaken by fourth semester students. Alvin said that Commweek 2023, which mentored by lecturers, could introduce Fikom Untar to the public.

Commweek is a routine annual event held out of campus by students of Fikom. This year becomes the first event to be held offline, after two years held online due to the pandemic. Commweek 2023 gained enthusiasm from the visitors and sponsor partners that supported this event. (YS/AW)
